Fulton County High School officials have announced that head football coach James Bridges will not be rehired to coach the team next season.
School Superintendant Dr. Charles Holliday told KYTN News that Bridges was informed of his termination last week.
The Pilots 2009 season ended with Bridges, along with other team players, suspended by the school system and KHSAA for the final three games, after an on-field brawl October 2nd against Calloway County, at Sanger Field in Hickman.
Bridges teams have compiled a 9-33 record over his four year term, including a 1-9 record in 2008 and 0-10 this past season.
Holliday said the high school’s Site Base Council and Principal will now begin the immediate placement of advertisement in the search for the new head coach.
Holliday told KYTN News the school was looking toward the future of the football program, and hoped a new start would bring competitive teams and a new spirit from the players and community.
